John Fitzgerald, audit partner, member of the Executive Committee, and Chair of Law Firm Services at Berdon LLP and has been with the firm since 1991. Consulting with practice leaders, John evaluates the financial and economic impact of partnership agreements and reviews candidates for mergers and lateral partner additions. Leveraging his insights on law firm operations, he analyzes the internal control environment to isolate weaknesses and reduce risk. To help firms secure long-term financial strength, he structures and arranges financings and refinancings.
John has authored several articles on law firm management issues, including "A Lateral Partner's Decision: Open vs. Closed Compensation System" and “Stemming the Cost of Providing Health Insurance” published by ALA Currents, a newsletter of the Association of Legal Administrators. His article “Envision the Future and Make it Happen” on capital planning and retention appeared in Legal Management Magazine. He also co-authored the article "The Change from Cash to Accrual" for Nassau Lawyer. As a New York Law Journal panelist, Mr. Fitzgerald has also lent his insights to attorneys and firm administrators on key issues facing law practices.

EDUCATION AND LICENSES
Mr. Fitzgerald graduated from the University of Albany with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. He was licensed as a certified public accountant in New York in 1994.
